Do you love knitting or sewing?
Are you a "crafty" type of person who
loves to Knit'n'Sew and make things?
Or do you know a Grandma or an aunt who loves to do those things?
The Special Care Nursery at Mercy Hospital for Women uses many items that are
kindly made and donated by caring members of the public to help make our tiny
premature and sick babies more comfortable during their stay.
Sometimes we receive items that have been beautifully and carefully made but we
just can't use them - they are not the right size or just not suitable for use
in a hospital environment with little babies who might be very sick.
Approved Patterns
To ensure that what you make can be properly used and fully appreciated, we
have included some patterns of our most needed items for you to download and
use:

Claire is the Coordinator of Featherweight Club's Knit 'n' Sew group.
Please contact our Craft Coordinator if you:
- Would like to clarify what items are currently needed in the nurseries
- Have some pattern ideas - Claire is always looking for new and
"different" patterns to help our babies keep up with the latest
fashion trends
- Would like to register as a Featherweight
Club Knit 'n 'Sew member so that Claire can get in touch with you when we are
organising handmade gifts for Special Occasions in the nurseries
Where do I send my
Knit 'n' Sew products?
We are always pleased to receive goods that have been made by our volunteers
and we try and make sure everyone receives a special thank you. Featherweight Club distributes all
goods received for the Special Care Nursery and the Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit at Mercy Hospital for Women for use by families who have babies in
the nurseries or as gifts for special occasions, as appropriate.
Please mail all completed goods to:
