Who are we?
Featherweight Club supports the
babies and families of Mercy Hospital for Women's Neonatal Services Unit.
This includes the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Special Care Nursery.
We are
volunteers who know what it's like to have a baby in the Special Care Nursery
- sometimes overwhelming and confusing, often scary and very lonely.
Many of
these babies are born prematurely or sick. Others need just that extra
bit of attention during the first difficult days after their birth. We know that while these special babies need
special care - their parents do too!
What do we do?
Featherweight Club provides an avenue
for parents to communicate their requirements and suggestions. We
encourage you to contact us with your feedback and ideas.
How can we help you and other families with babies in Special Care?
We
endeavour to advocate for or provide programs that will deliver the practical
support required by families. We seek
to support those families whose babies leave hospital by endeavouring to ensure
they are equipped with the education and information they need to help them
effectively care for their own babies in the short and long term.
